Marcelo von Schwartz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is in Buenos Aires where he studies architecture and filmmaking. In 1987 he makes his first two short films, for cinema and video. Since 1989 he lives in Barcelona, where he interweaves his work as an architect with other creative and artistic activities. In Barcelona he trains with Yago Pericot at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona and makes several stage designs –for the Barcelona Olympic Games 1992 with Alfredo Arribas and Mariscal, and for the Condal Theatre among others- and looks seriously into screenwriting and filmmaking. In 1995 he works as Art Director and Production Designer for some short films and for the feature film Dead for Monday , by JoaquĆn Torres. In 1996 writes and produces the 35mm short film Phoenix .
